Is Solana (SOL) halal to buy and trade?
Question context
Community members asked for a direct scholarly ruling on SOL specifically, as the fifth largest cryptocurrency by market cap with a large Muslim investor following.
CoinStudy's answer
Research opinion from the CoinStudy Sharia team. Not a fatwa.
Our Shariah Board Chairman reviewed the full Solana analysis and ruled: "Solana works as a technology for transactions in which there is no objection. Using its network is halal. Its coin SOL is working in the crypto market like other cryptocurrencies. In itself it does not contain interest or Gharar. Therefore working with this currency is also correct." CoinStudy classifies SOL at 87 out of 100 Halal, confirmed by the chairman's direct ruling. Muslim investors should still avoid interest-based DeFi applications and perpetual futures platforms built on Solana, which require individual assessment.
