Kaito just provides AI data to Polymarket's prediction markets. Chainlink provides oracle data to Aave and Compound which you classify as Haram. Why is Kaito Haram but Chainlink is Halal ?
Question context
CoinStudy's answer
Research opinion from the CoinStudy Sharia team. Not a fatwa.
This is one of the most precise and important questions we have received about Kaito and it deserves an equally precise answer because the distinction is real and meaningful.
You are right that both Kaito and Chainlink provide data to platforms CoinStudy classifies as Haram. But the similarity ends there because what each company does beyond that data provision is fundamentally different.
Chainlink provides neutral price feed oracle data to any protocol that requests it. Chainlink does not build its own lending platform. Chainlink does not brand a lending protocol as a Chainlink product. Chainlink does not integrate a lending protocol into its own website and describe it as the next stage of the Chainlink platform's development. Chainlink earns service fees for providing data infrastructure to whatever protocol requests it, permissible or not, and the infrastructure neutrality principle applies. The data provision service is neutral and the tool can be used for permissible or impermissible purposes by whoever accesses it.
Kaito's situation is categorically different on three specific points that make it not a data provider but a product builder.
Kaito is building Kaito Markets, its own standalone prediction market platform, under its own brand. This is not Polymarket using Kaito's data. This is Kaito building Kaito's own prediction market. A company that builds and operates a prediction market as its primary product is an operator of that prohibited financial activity, not a neutral infrastructure provider.
Kaito integrated Attention Markets directly into its own main website as Kaito's product for Kaito's users. When you visit Kaito's website the prediction market is presented as part of Kaito's product suite rather than as an external third-party application that happens to use Kaito data.
Kaito's CEO described this as the next stage of the platform's development after the Yaps program collapsed in January 2026. Prediction markets are not a client use case for Kaito's data. They are Kaito's chosen business direction after its previous product failed.
The simplest way to understand the distinction: Chainlink is a data highway. Many vehicles use it including some going to prohibited destinations, but Chainlink does not build the prohibited destinations. Kaito is building the destination itself and calling it its own product.
